All but one lane of the Princes Highway has reopened north of Tailem Bend after the Country Fire Service contained a nearby fire.

Speed restrictions and the remaining southbound lane closure may apply into the evening, police advised.

Motorists should take care and follow the instructions of emergency services personnel in the area.

The Princes Highway has been closed to southbound traffic just north of Tailem Bend due to a scrub fire, SA Police have advised.

The lanes of traffic bound for Tailem Bend were closed between Westbrook Road, just north of Old Tailem Town, and the township not long after the fire started at 3.45pm.

Police advised motorists to take alternate routes if possible.

Seven Country Fire Service units were fighting the fire at 4.30pm.
