Two of the Murraylands' public schools have gained new principals for this first week of term one.
Murray Bridge North School has welcomed James Parkin, formerly a consultant in one of the Department for Education's Adelaide offices but previously principal of Uraidla Primary for 11 years.
Mr Parkin said he was delighted to be back in a school, working with children, and particularly one whose staff were so committed.
"The thing that floats my boat is building that sense of community in a place," he said.
"It's terrific here and it's so nice to be able to contribute to that.
"To make this a school that really buzzes and to bring the parent community into the school would be my vision, and to bring more music in."
At Coonalpyn Primary Abby Harris is the new principal.
The former leader of Kangaroo Island Education's Kingscote campus said she was excited to continue her career at another country school.
"I've always been very passionate about small schools and country education," she said.
"I'm looking forward to being part of the wider community, making sure we can encourage families to come in and be involved in social events throughout the year.
"I look forward to seeing what we can achieve."
