There it is: once shiny and strong, now cracked and broken, full of potholes.
Wear and tear are taking their toll.
Cracks appear, allowing water in to undermine its foundation.
Weeds take root and cause even more breakdown and damage.
Drivers scoff and grumble and declare that this is a useless road.
The drivers who once travelled this road now find other roads to use, and nobody appears to care.
The road is unable to fix itself and continues to crumble.
Have you ever thought, "poor me: life is rumbling over me, and I'm breaking up under the pressure; the cracks are starting to show"?
Jesus knows that, as people, there are times when we all feel that way - even those who look as if they have it all together.
Jesus gives a promise: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest".
He doesn't say he will always take the problem away, but if we talk to him about it, he will help you find a way, so the problem no longer breaks you.
Don't think, "I haven't given him much time in my life; why should he care?"
He spent his whole life caring.
He stood up for a woman caught in adultery, about to be stoned.
He welcomed back a mate who had turned away.
He brought a dead brother back to life because his sisters were sad, in John chapter 11.
Do you think he doesn't care about your crumbling life?
Talk to him and see what happens.
You might be surprised.
