The Murray Bridge council is considering whether to collect abandoned shopping trolleys and charge retailers to collect them. Councillor Tyson Matthews floated the idea at a meeting last week. "We've taken a softly, softly approach to shopping trolleys around the town, but ... I don't feel our current approach is resulting in an outcome that's giving a good impression of our town," he said. Mayor Brenton Lewis agreed. "We've exhausted every gentlemanly way of doing this and it hasn't worked," he said. Staff will put a proposal together for councillors to vote on at a future meeting.
