Woman dies after car, bicycle crash at Willyaroo near Strathalbyn

A cyclist has passed away after the bike she was riding and a car collided near Strathalbyn on Tuesday morning, February 25.

Police and emergency services were called to the scene at Willyaroo about 6.30am, after reports a car and a cyclist had collided on Nine Mile Road.

The MedStar helicopter was called to take the cyclist, a 44-year-old Strathalbyn woman, to Flinders Medical Centre after she sustained serious injuries.

Sadly, the woman passed away on Thursday morning, February 27. Her death is the 17th on the state's roads this year.

The driver of the car was not physically injured.

Police closed Nine Mile Road, between Collett Road and Roper Road, for more than five hours.

Major Crash Investigators examined the scene to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
