Attendees at an agricultural forum held in Coomandook recently discussed a range of topics to help expand their business and achieve more profitability.
The Unlocking Agricultural Potential Forum was hosted by the Mallee and Coorong Natural Resources Management (NRM) Group in February with 67 farmers in attendance.
The MCNR NRM Group chair Roger Wickes said technical experts and farmers were able to share practical information and their own stories, helping to make the forum a success.
"The forum also recognised one of the Mallee and Coorong NRM Group members Jenny Roberts, who was presented with a Premiers Certificate for 18 years of Outstanding Voluntary Service, by Di Davidson Presiding Member of the Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board," Mr Wickes said.
"Ms Roberts served nine years on the Soil Conservation Board and another nine years as a member of the Mallee and Coorong NRM Group to the SA Murray-Darling Basin Natural Resources Management Board.
Speakers at the forum included SA Research Development Institute's agricultural scientist, Dr Peter Hayman who presented the long term trends, drivers, outlook of climate variability and managing risk and SARDI senior research officer, Amanda Pearce, who presented the results of a pulse check legume trial.
Farmers heard from other experts such as Primary Industries and Regions SA, Rural Solutions senior soil consultant Dr Melissa Fraser; Coorong Tatiara Local Action Plan independent advisor Felicity Turner; Precision Ag specialist Daniel Bell; Nutrien Ag Solutions' senior agronomist Paul Rochs; CSIRO senior principal research scientist Rick Llewellyn and Natural Resources SA Murray-Darling Basin district officer Steve Baltussen.
