The Adelaide Thunderbirds will be wearing art with a local connection in the Suncorp Super Netball's Indigenous round this Saturday, September 19.

This year's design was created by Kaurna/Narungga and Ngarrindjeri artist Carly Dodd, and will be worn by the team when it takes on the NSW Swifts at Cairns Pop Up Arena at 2.30pm.

Carly said showing the connections to and within netball was important and exciting for her.

"I really wanted to incorporate a sense of community and connection because in a team sport that's really important," she told Adelaide Thunderbirds Media.

"There are a lot of circle and dots that represent the team's connection as well as the supporters, the coaches, the trainers and everyone involved."

All Suncorp Super Netball teams will be wearing dresses with different Indigenous designs this weekend as part of the league's Indigenous Round.

The NSW Swifts and Adelaide Thunderbirds game will be shown on Channel Nine at 2.30pm, on Saturday, September 19.
