Murray Bridge Little Athletics host big come and try

Little Athletics Murray Bridge wants to see you this weekend.

Hosting the first of two "Come and Try" days this weekend, September 27, the club is encouraging anyone interested in family friendly fitness to come and check it out.

Kids between the ages of 3 and 17 years old can come and try a huge variety of athletic activities including discus, shot put, turbo javelin, long jump, triple jump, and a range of running and hurdle distances.

Murray Bridge Little Athletics records officer Amanda Martin said the sport is great for kids, families and anyone looking to have fun while keeping fit and healthy.

"It's a great family activity that you get to do with your family - siblings love it," she said.

"It's a very friendly supporting environment."

Registrations are open from 9am for a 9.45am start at the Murray Bridge High School oval and cost only $3 - which includes a sausage sizzle.

"We're always looking for new members, new families and new enthusiastic, energetic kids.." Ms Martin explained.

"Athletics is the basis for all other sports. It's the fundamentals that go towards any sport from netball to football all the way to martial arts because we are teaching the fundamentals of run, jump and throw."

Little Athletics Murray Bridge hosts a series of events, challenges and athletics meets throughout the season which runs until the end of March next year.

Their Fun Family Fitness night, which will be run next year, will see parents compete against one another in a fun, comical and, at times, fiercely competitive day of events.

The Come and Try days are being held on September 27 and October 11. Contact club president Dale Martin for more information on 0421 919 215
