A UNIQUE and highly-sort after 'eco pod' home on the River Murray in Murray Bridge has featured in the national shortlist for the annual Stayz Holiday Homes of the Year Awards.
The holiday home from transform from a humble standard shipping container to a popular river holiday experience.
The holiday rental website Stayz said they had "crunched the numbers and revealed the most booked and best reviewed properties of the past year" and the The Cube Murray River was the only South Australian finalist.
The Murray Bridge holiday home resembles a shipping container and has one bedroom, an ensuite and kitchenette, located on the River Murray itself.
The overall winner is set to be announced on Friday.
Owner Fiona Hunt said her and her husband Wayne were thrill to be nominated.
"We are stoked - we are just a husband and wife team hope we'd get enough interest to pay the mooring fees,"
"Within four years, it's gone ballistic, we're stoked.
"We are booked out until May next year for mid-week books and until June next year for weekends."
The property was a finalist in the Stayz 2017 annual awards in the most unique holiday home category.
Stayz travel expert Simone Scoppa said the website was thrilled to reveal its shortlist for the 2020 award in a year that has been tough for the Australian tourism industry.
We are even more delighted to see this unique South Australian property on the country's top "20 list for holiday homes and crowned again as a finalist in this most coveted list," she said.
"The recurring theme in the reviews is how relaxing this property is and after a challenging year, this looks to be one of the best places for South Australians to unwind."
"The owners say summer is a great time to watch the river come to life with a plethora of local birds.
"In Autumn, they say guests enjoy the fire pit at night and clear days to relax.
"Winter is when to cosy up with your loved one, according to the owners, and enjoy a glass of wine from the pod's balcony where you can literally dip your toes in the water.
Stayz reported the majority of holiday homes, 95 per cent, on the shortlist were located in regional Australia or outside the city centres.
