The Strathalbyn Country Fire Service (CFS) group has received $4304 from the RAA as part of its Regional Safety Grants program.

The aim of the program is to fund projects which improve communities' safety and wellbeing. Strathalbyn CFS - one of several emergency service teams to receive a grant - will be able to buy portable battery lighting with the funding.

RAA Insurance spokesman Shaun Ryan said out of 76 applications, 14 groups would receive a share of the $50,000 pool.

"It can be really difficult for small communities in country areas to raise money for important projects," he said.

"Since the grant's inception in 2013/14, RAA has been able to provide more than $410,000 in funding to 128 worthy causes across the state, which all share a common goal of keeping South Australians safe."
