TAILEM Bend is set to celebrate the return of one the state's biggest motorsport events in style.

The Supercars Championship roars into Tailem Bend on Friday, May 7 with the OTR SuperSprint at The Bend Motorsport Park and the town is hosting a pre-race street party and the Coorong Country Markets on Thursday, May 6, kicking off from 4pm.

It will be a welcome return for the event, which was cancelled last year due to difficult weather conditions in the led up to last year's V8 action at The Bend.

The free community event is open to everyone, however tickets must be obtained online or at the gate to gain entry dude to COVID Safe regulations.

The street party is set to feature vehicle displays, artisan and food stalls, and music and entertainment, and Coorong District Council Mayor Paul Simmons said he was delighted the event was supported by the sports biggest stars.

"We are delighted to host a Supercars Transporter Parade and Supercars Championship driver signing as part of the 2021 Tailem Bend Street Party and Coorong Country Markets," Mayor Simmons said.

"The transporter parade and driver signing supported by the Supercars gives our own community a fantastic opportunity to join in and celebrate our region hosting a large-scale event in our own backyard.

"The OTR SuperSprint is a drawcard not only for The Bend Motorsport Park, but for our surrounding region and local businesses; we look forward to welcoming visitors over the course of the weekend."

As well as the Supercars Championship driver signing at the Tailem Bend Town Hall, a designated area called 'The Speed Zone' will feature displays of drifting, classic and vintage cars, motorbikes and machinery by the Tailem Bend Car Club and the Lower Murray Vintage Engine and Machinery Club.

Murraylands band 'ARkIVE' will provide entertainment as well as a host of other roving musicians and entertainers.

The convoy for the Supercars Transporter Parade will make its way from The Bend Motorsport Park along the Dukes Highway towards Tailem Bend, turning onto Tuscany Grove, then Big Olive Grove and along Golf Course Road, entering Tailem Bend via Railway Terrace and through to the Street Party.
