The Strathalbyn Bands Festival cancelled its planned Sunday, August 1 event, but plans to proceed on Sunday, August 8, COVID restrictions allowing.

This is the 20th Annual Bands Festival that Strathalbyn has hosted and there is a great list of bands lined up for this coming Sunday.

They include Goolwa Concert Band, Glenelg Brass Band, Mt Barker District Concert Band, Adelaide City Band, Adelaide Village Band, Hahndorf Town Band, German Band, Enfield Brass Band, West Torrens Concert Band and Strathalbyn & District Concert Band.

"While producing this event will be particularly challenging because of the movement of the bands and patrons during the day, we are hoping and praying for a smoothly run event," event spokesperson said.

It starts at 11am and concludes at 4.30pm, with each band having a half hour time slot to present their choice of music.

Tickets are $10 at the door and people who attend before 11am are offered entry at half price.

The spokesperson said the relaxing of COVID restrictions had made it possible to continue with the August 8 event.

"Some of the Brass bands will be presenting music that they are preparing for the Brass Band Competition at Tanunda in October," the spokesperson said.

The Strathalbyn Band has a Rock & Roll theme for their presentation this year.
