The Summer season is here and the time to make a splash in the Mid Murray region is now.
The summer swimming season is under way in the Mid Murray district, with the opening of the Cambrai Pool from Wednesday, December 1 2021.
Challenges securing enough lifeguards to service both the Cambrai and Mannum pools has meant the Mannum Pool was closed last week.
The Mannum Pool will now look to open on Thursday, December 9, but the facility will not open if it is under 25 degrees.
The council put out an urgent call for lifeguards last month after a lengthy search failed to find enough staff for it to open both pools.
Thankfully, a positive response from potential lifeguard candidates has now allowed council to recruit additional staff.
Mid Murray Council Chief Executive Officer, Ben Scales, said the delay to the opening of the Mannum Pool was unfortunate, but council staff did all they could to ensure it opened as soon as possible.
"Our pools have a special place in our community, and we're excited that we've had such a positive response to our recruitment campaign," Mr Scales said.
"With the return of the warmer weather, and with school holidays around the corner, it will be fantastic for our community to have our pools operating again this summer season."
The Cambrai Pool and Mannum Pool will open from 3.30pm to 7.30pm when the forecast temperature is 25C or above.
