Rapid Antigen Test point now open in Murray Bridge for COVID-19 close contacts

A COLLECTION point for Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) has opened today, January 18, 2022, at the Showgrounds in Murray Bridge.

People who a close contact to a COVID-19 case you can access a kit of two free rapid antigen tests.

You must register online to collect the tests and you can register on behalf of another person.

The collection point at the showgrounds is a drive through facility and will be open from 8am to 6pm, seven days a week.

There is no cost to register and collect the tests.

Announcing the opening of the collection point, Member for Hammond Adrian Pederick said the home testing would assist businesses in their operations and was a great support for the whole community.

"I welcome the opening of this facility which will make it much easier for residents of Murray Bridge and surrounding areas to access Rapid Antigen Tests to keep people safe in the community.

Last week, Premier Steven Marshall said using RAT to test close contacts was the next step in a plan to tackle the Omicron outbreak.

"Providing greater and easier access to RATs is an important step as we enter the next stage of our response," Premier Marshall said.

"Offering two free RATs for people who are considered close contacts, will allow us to increase the number of tests taken so we can get a clearer picture of how many COVID positive people are in the community.

"I ask all South Australians to work with us as we make this pivot in our testing regime, it's a big change so it will take some time to get used to.

"If you don't have immediate access to a RAT test and you are a close contact, or of course have symptoms, please continue to use the over 80 PCR testing sites we have across the state."
